The NBFTT is the governing and controlling body for the sport of basketball in Trinidad and Tobago – overseeing the sport at all levels, from “mini to masters”; from the communities to zonal leagues and national teams.
The objectives of the Federation include:
The establishment of Zonal Centres of Excellence, Camps, Player Specialization Workshops and National Advanced Training Centres (NATCs) for the development of players
The implementation of national and zonal coaching workshops and symposia to accredit community, local and national coaches
The implementation of national and zonal officiating workshops and symposia to accredit community, local and national officials
The organization of community, zonal, national and semi-professional basketball leagues
To grow the sport through the medium of “mini-basketball” at the primary school and community levels
To conduct a series of administrative workshops with a view towards the institutional strengthening of the Federation.
The NBFTT has its office located at the Maloney Indoor Sports Arena. At Maloney the NBFTT is developing a library to assist all interested persons in learning about all aspects of the game.
